Of course, you are totally correct. They are not the same. Brain fart on my end. Though they *should* (in my opinion) be the same, the difference is documented and known. Why it is this way, is I suppose best left to the guys who wrote the program. I had *always* thought that surrounding a command with backticks produced the same result as running the command from a prompt.
