Randy, I wanted to bring this up to you again. When you proposed
before that we keep a tarball around with a CVS pull of tidy, I was
the main person opposed to it. I think I may have been holding a
grudge about something you said and I wasn't really looking at it
fairly.
Anyway, I thought about this again, and I think it would be a good
idea for us to host a recent tarball if we want. Clearly, the
developers have no intention of generating a "stable" release. So, if
you're still interested in doing this, I'd be down for it. Obviously,
we'd want to test out the CVS pull before generating our tarball, but
I don't imagine people will be interested in pulling it that often.
If you've (or any other editor) has cooled to the idea, it's no big
deal. We know the current tarball in the book works for our purposes.
