Thanks Dan and  Ken, I have decided to take  this route. Going
to qt-3.3.6 and kde-3.5.5 ...

The reason I made this post was to bring attention to a broken
link in the  "stable" tree, which may  otherwise go unnoticed,
being a recent development.

Anything in  stable *must* work  - there may be  newcomers who
may actually  follow the 'stable"  line. It may  be worthwhile
just placing the "attic" link for the time being till 6.2 gets
the official nod. It seems very useable as of now.
