The only thing that's lost in the process is that the book currently tells you specifically which packages need which switches. From my analysis, we have this (not counting additional dependencies, like startup-notification like you have on livecd) Need --sysconfdir: libxfce4util xfce4-panel xfce4-session xfce-utils xfdesktop Need --libexecdir: xfce4-session So, the question comes down to whether we care if that information is lost. Or, if we want that information, where does it now go.
