About a hundred grand and a bit of mechanical know-how. See

I have an aviation background from my time in the military service.
Then after the military, I worked on helicopters for several years
as a civilian. Left it all in 1989 to pursue a career with computers,
but the aviation bug has always been there.

My partner in this helicopter, Paolo Nespoli
( http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/nespoli.html ) will be going
into space in a few days on the next Shuttle mission. He has a bit of
avidness for flight as well. :-)
