See the Run-Time Dependencies section. You will certainly get pygtk
pulled in along the freight train that is gnome-python-desktop.
Instead, I would point you to the gnome-device-manager. Written by the
HAL author, except now it's written using the C libraries instead of
the Python bindings. The newest HAL releases don't ship
hal-device-manager anymore.
