I believe there are additional repercussions to this, and further investigation would be required. For instance, the Bash info page '6.11 Bash POSIX Mode' describes a number of behavioural differences when bash is invoked as /bin/sh. I'm sure there is a way to switch bash back to posix mode, but I'm not sure how to, or if it's even possible, with the 'SHELL' variable. Also, every package would need to be built with the variable introduction, and that may be a bit unfair considering the lack of man power. I'm still looking at this, but maybe discussion regarding /bin/sh > /bin/dash may be better placed in a hint or on the wiki for dash.
