Something odd has happened, I can't seem to get mutt to drop the tunnel so that I can test the code I put in (I found myself with some spare time). I'm not sure whether it's the new code or the fact that I've recently switched my network over to static IPs, but the connection has been up for at least 7 hours, perhaps more. I've simply left it running without interaction and monitored the connection with netstat.
