Well my problems so far have all been about convincing Xorg-7.5 with Hal to let me type with my uk keyboard. It used to be simple in the old days, but now Hal gets to play, it ain't - and Hal is obsolete too! I said it was fun. The notes in Ch23 on setting up keyboards are thus out of date, but I'm not sure yet if I have the correct solution, so I've put it in the wiki. You'd think that the software would be the tricky bit, but the name of your country! The United Kingdom is universally - including US Immigration - known as uk, but Hal or xorg insist it's gb, for some reason. Great Britain is an island of the north coast of France, country wise it houses England, Wales and Scotland, but not Northern Ireland, so GB is technically incorrect. Still, mustn't sound off, it's not BLFS's fault.
