List is getting long, figure I'd better post for others to review...though
I plan to attack some of them. Also, Xorg-7.5-3 items coming likely
tomorrow.
gobject-introspection requires libffi.
libffi is also provided by gcc (with gcj) and works as expected.
cairo can use libxcb.
Another component xcb-render is required as well to use the xcb backend.
Cups still contains external links to libacl and libattr.
Can also be updated to much later version.
Samba - instructions have changed considerably in newer version, I have
ready, but not in book format yet.
OpenLDAP-2.4.19 is stable 20091028.
LinuxPam-1.1.0 with cracklib-8.14 did not install cracklib module.
Needs investigation and a real fix but for now, at end of installtion add:
install -v -m755 modules/pam_cracklib/.libs/pam_cracklib.{la,so} \
/lib/security
Move libgnomeui to after gnome-keyring (logical since ui depends on keyring).
NSPR-4.8.3
(patch up from 4.8.2 to 4.8.3 from source tree of firefox-3.6)
NSS-3.12.4
(patch up from 3.12.4.5-1.75 to 3.12.4.5-1.77 from source tree of
firefox-3.6)
XULRunner-1.9.2
needs libnotify (at least with gnome)
uses only internal liboggplay
remove ldap (isn't there anymore)
Firefox-3.6
needs libnotify (at least with gnome)
seems to use only internal liboggplay now (no checks/switches for system
libogg)
remove ldap (it isn't there anymore)
add --disable-necko-wifi by default (requires wireless tools, update deps)
Gnome Doc Utils:
ln -s $GNOME_PREFIX/lib/python2.6/site-packages/xml2po \
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/xml2po
Clutter requires patch if GL libs are not in /usr..even /usr/X11R6 does not
work. Simple patch sent upstream that checks xorg location (via
pkg-config). Fixed upstream at
http://bugzilla.openedhand.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1966
Also, need note about circular dependency of gir-repository.
udev-151
Despite my previous comments (which I stand by, but haven't brought up yet)
regarding acl and attr, need to consider adding instructions to move acl,
attr, glib, and pcre libs to /lib. Not yet sure about glib, udev-acl
links to it, but I'm not sure what it's for, nor if it could be called
before runeleve 3. Also need to add coreutils (or at least a more thorough
note) to the book.
