 You don't say what the other package was, but I suspect it was one
of my changes - I certainly remember thinking that there was only
one extra item, so the plural was out of order.

 Personally, I don't use the template - I noticed Andy updating it
recently, but in the past the only advice I remember was to find a
suitable existing package and copy its xml.

 And sometimes patches, additional download(s), or information on
how to configure a package, are extra additions after the package is
in the book.  In those cases, all I do is look for something else to
copy from (if I don't already have something suitable in my own
not-added-to-svn 'mycopybook' in my local copy).

 This is similar to the problem of the French translators that they
asked about the other day.  Overall, if people want to try to enforce
extra standards on the xml, you can try, but expect it to break from
time to time - mostly, editors will only care that the english text
looks sensible.
