I'm about to step back from editing BLFS for a while. This year, I've spent far too much time on it, and the other things that I put aside must now take priority. At the moment, I'm preparing one of my irregular lists of what I've built, and in what order. After that, I don't see myself doing much, if anything, here for the rest of this year.
One of the things I now need to do, while things on the development side are quiet, is a heavy overhaul of my buildscripts (move to DESTDIR installs before the real install, to get an accurate list of everything that gets installed). I still have _some_ interest in the following package updates, but I'm in no hurry to spend time on them, at least until I get tired of banging my head agaisnt the screen during my DESTDIR changes: 1. audacious-3.3.1 - works mostly ok, time indications seem b0rken, but that isn't unusual, nor critical. 2. firefox/xulrunner-15.0.1 : I had hoped to take a look at this, but I've got problems with 15.0 on my old, slow, LFS-6.6 system (installed ok, but crashes on almost every page - much of that system is now obsolete, but 14.0.1 in the non-xulrunner form worked fine there), and no time to spend on measuring, nor on confirming that the xulrunner build is again bigger and slower. 3. apache-2.4.3 - works fine for me, but I only serve myself static pages from the LFS and BLFS books :) 4. I'm also leaving gutenprint-5.2.9 out - as I put in the ticket, 5.2.8 works fine on my Epson, but might be broken on newly added canon printers - that's why 5.2.9 came out so soon. If I get my updated buildscripts to a usable state, I will be trying 5.2.9 - but that is probably a couple of months away [ I'll want to build everything after LFS by-hand, one package at a time, to confirm that it will adapt to one of the DESTDIR variants, or to do a pre-build to a user-writable directory if it won't, and also improve some other parts of my scripts. So, I'll still be reading the lists, but perhaps not every day. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
