Hello Ken, From looking at the tex live developers site you actually do not need a binary installation to build from source. All the pre-requisites for building and how to achieve it are on their site: https://www.tug.org/texlive/doc/tlbuild.html#Introduction I am actually going to give this a go once I have installed rc1 lfs-systemd 7.6. Will be very interesting to see the results.
