Hello,

I think we may need to modify the instructions for testing gnome-keyring.

If the test suite is run on a fresh install with no previous version of
gnome-keyring installed you get 23 failures with the following error:

(gnome-keyring-daemon:14664): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema
'org.gnome.crypto.cache' is not installed

If you run the test suite after gnome-keyring is installed you only get
two failures.

I cannot confirm that, because had it or a previous version installed before running the tests, sorry.

I have done a little research and there was a patch made some time last
year for an earlier version, however the list I found it on, did not have
the patch actually included.

Should we look for the patch and include it, or should we just modify
the instructions to say that if a previous installation of
gnome-keyring is not installed you get the above mentioned error,

I think not.

or should we just ... modify the
instructions to say that the test suite needs to be run after
gnome-keyring is installed?

In the gtk+ page, we have a recommendation to compile the schemas when using DESTDIR. Perhaps this could help to include one similar instruction, based in the binaries compiled in the source dir.

The most used option in the book is to recommend running the tests after install, and you mentioned it. This would be my preference.

Probably, I would not include a patch just for the tests, although I may have done it before (ISTR there was a discussion where Bruce discusses this).
