Yes, really. Do you mean that you build all of Xorg and a Windowing
environment, and then FF without intermediate checking that the steps
along the way work?
Do you really build that level of BLFS and only have one system where
ssh can't be used?

Well, FYI, I don't usually need about half of Xorg packages so I don't
build them. Windowing environment, as you call it, is only a window
manager for me (but I don't torture myself with twm). There is not much
to check before building and booting into a somewhat useable system
after you've done it a few hundred times.
And yes, I only have one system which is a laptop.
