In my qemu i686 LFS-svn system, my build of libva failed.
Normally, I would just fix it, but I'll need to copy my working book
to a new directory first (because I'm using it for the remainder of
this build), and the error messages were amusing, at least to me.
This is copied by hand, but I think it is correct -
libtool: Version mismatch error. This is libtool 2.4.2
Debian-2.4.2-1.7ubuntu1, but the
libtool: definition of this LT_INIT comes from libtool 2.4.2 458.26-92994.
libtool: You should recreate aclocal.m4 with macros from libtool 2.4.2
Debian-2.4.2-1.7ubuntu1
libtool: and run autoconf again.
What is amusing is that this system has never been remotely near
ubuntu, and while the derivation of 458.26-92994 is anyone's guess.
The system libtool reports itself as 2.4.3.
Anyway, the fix is to change autoreconf -f to autoreconf -fi : I'll
do that later unless anyone objects.
I know what the purpose of libtool is, but for Linux it just seems to
get in the way.
In libva-1.4.1 is the file ltmain.sh with the line:
VERSION="2.4.2 Debian-2.4.2-1.7ubuntu1"
That said, I have no objections to changing the options to -fi
