For that, you could add it to the wiki. I usually put a blank page in when I add a package, but I had missed pass 1 - it's there now. For untarring the additional download - I now realise that I first had texmf as an extra package, but I think it was Bruce who suggested that was unnecessary and it would be better merged in. So much water has passed under the bridge since then, I forget the details. Now that texmf is an "Additional download" in texlive pass 1, I think it is being treated similarly to the ghostscript fonts, is it not ? In other words, the tarball (or zip) for a package gets extracted before we begin the build, but additional downloads are to be treated on a case-by-case basis. ĸen -- Nanny Ogg usually went to bed early.
