Armin, it is hopefully fixed, now. I've had a quick look at gnome-mplayer, and it required at least something called gmlib, installed by gmtk. For me it was enough to keep with mplayer and I stopped there, but it could need some other gnome packages, because I've seen that caja (good fruit) and matte (this after a large patch, so perhaps some gnome would be required instead?) are also required.
