I'm trying to record audio via a microphone, but I can't seem to get
alsa to see the sound input.
I try something like 'arecord -d5 test.wav' and I only get:
$ od test.wav
0000000 044522 043106 116144 000000 040527 042526 066546 020164

0000040 000001 000010 060544 060564 116100 000000 100200 100200
0000060 100200 100200 100200 100200 100200 100200 100200 100200

I can hear the microphone input via the speakers so the mic is working.
The HW looks like:
$ arecord -L

I've tried the front and back mic jacks and have everything in alsamixer
up to 100% and not muted. aplay works fine.
I tried arecord on another LFS system and it works OK.
Any ideas?
