That did not need the CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH, but of course it dumped it into /opt/qt5 (and the corresponding lib64). Rebuilding for /usr, _I_ still need it, and similarly phonon needs it.
At that point I gave up and added export CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=$QT5DIR:$KF5_PREFIX I surmise that building in /usr will not need these shenanigans.
