It isn't about minimalism, its about modernity and getting rid of
fonts which were in use in XFree86 days.  For a few years I did
without them completely - the only visible difference on my desktop
was that the initial xscreensaver window wasa lot smaller, and any
error messages from xscreensaver were also a lot smaller.

My preference is that everything on my normal builds should have
a purpose.
