If you try and compile gdb with guile-2.2.0 installed, it fails with lots
of errors like this:

./guile/scm-ports.c:139:45: error: ‘scm_new_port_table_entry’ was not
declared in this scope
    port = scm_new_port_table_entry (port_type);
                                              ^
./guile/scm-ports.c: In function ‘int ioscm_fill_input(SCM)’:
./guile/scm-ports.c:224:40: error: ‘SCM_PTAB_ENTRY’ was not declared in
this scope
    scm_t_port *pt = SCM_PTAB_ENTRY (port);
                                         ^
./guile/scm-ports.c:233:47: error: invalid use of incomplete type
‘scm_t_port {aka struct scm_t_port}’
    count = ui_file_read (gdb_stdin, (char *) pt->read_buf,
pt->read_buf_size);

adding --without-guile
to the configure line enables it to compile with no errors

googling didn't throw up any solutions for me.

When I last built gdb I had guile-2.0.14 installed. That worked without problem. For us right now I think the thing to do is wait for gdb to update. If we get close to the next book release (target September), then we should address the issue.
