I have a problem with the appearance of applications based on gtk+3.
Specifically I cannot see the scroll bar/scroll bar thumb. They are
present and I can get them to work, but the colors are such that they are
not visible.
Specifically the applications I have been concentrating on are
gnome-terminal and firefox.
I've tried changing values in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini to use
different themes, added new themes, and tried viewing the apps in
different window managers (xfce, and twm).
The problem occurs on the local system and over ssh.
Nothing seems to work. I even ran strace on gnome terminal. The curious
thing with that is there is no reference to any ini file or anything in
/usr/share/themes.
I do note that when I launch gnome-terminal a supporting app,
/usr/libexec/at-spi2-registryd is launched. This is built in at-spi2-core.
gtk+2 based apps are fine.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Doesn't it always work out that as soon as you ask the question, you
figure it out.
In xfce I selected Applicatiosn->Settings->Appearance->Style and then
Adwaita. Then gtk3 apps starting up look OK. The xfce themes are not ok
for gtk3. They are ok for gtk2 apps.
