In the dev version of the book, the itstool-2.0.4 page states the

docbook-xml-4.5 and Python-2.7.14

PYTHON=/usr/bin/python3 ./configure --prefix=/usr
Which is it, Python2 or 3?

Hi John,
We have been discussing that... See thread starting at
http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/pipermail/blfs-support/2017-Octob
er/079548.html.
Short story: the book is inconsistent, but itstool-2.0.4 is buggy
anyway, so 2.0.2 should be used, and it requires Python2.

Probably going to drop back to 2.0.2 with the three python patches
from itstool git.

Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity.
There's now a patch in itstool git that should fix issue people have
with 2.0.4 around here. Maintainer asked the patches to be tested
before new release is made.
Works for gnome-desktop. I'll send patch in a sec.
