I got a bit further on and discovered that itstool needs the
python3 module - and then I discovered that anything which *uses*
itstool will also use the module, because itstool is a python3
script. A load of gnome packages use itstool.
So, I've confirmed that the python3 module should be the default (as
a small step towards getting rid of python2). At this point I
stopped trying to track down what, if anything, still needs the
python3 module. Still monitoring for python2 pyxml2.
