I suppose for that we should just make it 'startxfce4'

The reference email discusses non-systemd systems, but does not say what to use for systemd based systems.  For that we now use:

As soon as you have logind with its session and seat concept you don't
need consolekit anymore, because either your tty is already in a proper
session or it's done by the login manager.

I’ll ask again, but I believe `startxfce4` takes care of everything today.

Rereading Silvio’s reply [2], it’s already answered there, as that applies also to systemd systems.

… »startxfce4« itself starts dbus and (if advised and not already running) …

So the `dbus-launch` command is not needed.
