Now two patches (it also breaks a macro in the luatex directory),
with both applied I can build and pass the tests using 0.64.0 but
also using 0.63.0 and 0.62.0 - so should be good to go for BLFS-8.2
and later when texlive 2018 is released.

Still might be a few days.

Withg the possible exception of cups-filters, that just leaves
libreoffice needing to drop back to its included poppler.  I noticed
that gentoo seem to be using a slightly later libreoffice, but unless
I've misunderstood their ebuild (very possible) they don't seem to
use system poppler although it is listed as a possible dependency.
