On my latest build when I run xorg-server 1.20.0 with nouveau (git
version) I get a crash back to tty when trying to run an application
such as pavucontrol or the file picker in firefox/chrome. I guess
it's related to GTK+. I see a memory leak error on the terminal but
nothing in the Xorg logs.
It works fine if I use wayland/Xwayland and reverting back
xorg-server to 1.19.6 fixed the issue.
Not sure if anyone else can confirm this problem with xorg 1.20.0 and
nouveau.
Yes, I can confirm. It is in ticket #10772
http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/ticket/10772
I intend to investigate more after I finish updating plasma.
Not sure it is related, but there is a problem with libGL in a VM. The
driver is modesetting, and normally, swrast is used by libGL. But
glxgears returns:
-----------
libGL error: pci id for fd 4: 1234:1111, driver (null)
libGL error: No driver found
libGL error:failed to load friver: (null)
-----------
and the FPS is about one third of usual (still not too bad though, at
around 500 FPS).
It may also be a bad interaction between the xorg server and glxgears.
I need to revert to xorg server 1.19.6 to test if it works better...
