With LFS-8.3-rc1 now out, I'm starting to tag blfs packages as lfs83
checked.
If editors doing updates can use -rc1 as a base, then please tag the
appropriate pages. If not, we can still check them as we get to them in
the new environment.
Please do not update packages that have been already marked as
lfs83_checked without discussing it on this list. I have created an 8.4
milestone in Trac so it may be appropriate to move packages to that or
to add new versions of packages that are released to the 8.4 milestone.
Tomorrow I plan on doing updates/tagging on packages that are not
graphically based such as security, disk management, shells,
programming, etc. After that, I'll start on Xorg.
I am concerned about getting some packages up to date. One example is
java and those packages that rely on that. I'm asking for opinions on
how to handle that. If we can't get a working current version, then the
only options are to remove those packages from the book or to use the
older versions now in the book.
Overall, I started the release process a couple of days early. Sp far,
that seems to help jump start the validation so I think we may be able
to get the stable releases done on September 1st as scheduled.
