I need to test the new version of mutt before committing it, so I'll
take this opportunity to again assert that "Estimated disk space
required" should be the total of:
· The compiled source
· The installed files
· (For rust packages, anything it adds to ~/.cargo)
Of these items, the space taken by the installed files seems to be
often disregarded. If you do a DESTDIR or INSTALL_ROOT install it
is easy to measure that.
Yes, I know that disks were getting bigger (although on laptops,
with the move to NVMe they are often getting smaller again) and
therefore for some people the odd gigabye here or there does not
really matter, but in the interests of accuracy we should try to
account for the space our users will actually need.
And yes, I've no idea what other space might get used for temporary
files during a build or install, but I still assert that only
specifying the space used by the build (after any install command)
is inadequate.
