I made a note last night (not sure where I read it) to look at the
[sleep] section of /etc/elogind/login.conf : in my case I've been
using pm-utils until now for sleep and hibernation, but it sounds as
if your install automatically sleeps when the lid is closed - that's
what most people want, most of the time.
Taking a look at the [Sleep] section of src/login/logind.conf.in I
see that everything starts off as commented, but perhaps running
configure changes some of it.
And possibly it gets installed as logind.conf, that might be a typo
in my note.
