I've a vague memory of bad experiences with gtk-doc which makes me reluctant to install it. I also feel that package documentation is mostly 99% unuseful for me (with a few exceptions). More to the point, I still prefer a minimal system rather than "build every possible dependency" and the gradual increase in number of packages is annoying, as is the need to nowadays build so much before Xorg is usable. But it is the general breakage when using svn which really discourages me - in big distros (Arch, gentoo) many things (even on occasion security updates) get held outside the main area pending resolution of problems, We lack developers, skills, and build-integration to do that. I later recalled that versions of the polkit patch have at times dropped out, and then been reinstated or updated. I guessed that for some windowmanagers (maybe even for anyone who uses 'startx' rather than running a DM) it might not be necessary. Sure enough, without the patch I can boot the new system and use startx with fluxbox - auth.log showed my logns on c1 and later c2, and my use of seat0. and the Xorg log was in ~/.local/share so all looked good. Unfortunately, that doesn't buy me a lot - cairo has the same autoconf problem. Maybe I've calmed down a bit - I'll add gtk-doc and continue with this (and hopefully I'll switch gtkdocize out so I can identify where it is needed), but as a much lower priority. ĸen -- (The Balancing Monks) use small brass weights, none of them bigger than a fist.
