I receive the following error when compiling an ltmodem driver:
*** Warning: "lt_get_modem_interface"
[/ltmodem-2.6-alk-7/ltserial.ko] has no CRC!
I'm attempting to compile the driver using the source found at:
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/kernel-2.6/ltmodem-2.6-alk-7.tar.bz2
The README file tells me I need serial support and CRC and I've built my
2.6.8.1 kernel to include the following:
<*> 8250/16550 and compatible serial support
<*> CRC-CCITT functions
- - - CRC32 functions
<*> CRC32c (Castagnoli, et al) Cyclie Redundancy-check
I'm successfully using earlier ltmodem drivers from the same site
compiled on my Mandrake 10 partition's 2.6.3 kernel. However, I can't
compile ltmodem-2.6-alk.7 with my LFS 2.6.8.1 kernel. It will compile
on my Mandrake partition.
I assume I'm doing something wrong but am quite uncertain what. I've
never received CRC errors and know nothing of them. I do notice I'm
unable to turn any switch on the - - - CRC32 functions option.
I've contacted the author of the driver with no response. Getting my
winmodem working is the last step to complete Linux From Scratch and I'd
very much appreciate any help.
