black screen with kde 2.4.0

I just discovered reading /var/log/kdm.log an error KCrash: Application 
'kdmgreet' crashing. This seems to be the origin for the empty screen. Could 
this be a bug of the new 2.4.0 kde system ? I found very few entries to this 
topic googling, and no answers at all.
