I have been watching this area for a while, and simply found three in use
* Kspread does the business but is generally crap at so doing. No idea
of size or dependency problems.
* Gnumeric - Dependency Hell but it works. It looks like a small
option until you install the dependencies (and their dependencies)
* Openoffice. If yiou only use the basic features, OO is fine. It is
too big for a CD. If you did an install and removed unneeded features,
you might be able to cut it down to size
Alternatively, you may be able to add one by porting a dos version of
something over. Most are in windows only versions now. There is one
DOS shareware package, Aseasyas (123) which is a clone of Lotus123.
Low memory, file size etc. I used it for many years but had to drop it
because Dos never caught up with the euro sign. It was just faster
than anything else on the basic features. The source might well be
available now.
