Thanks very much David! I never thought of that. In fact I didn't ever
pay much heed to those entries in a listing.
I will come clean here. I would use 'chmod a+r' rather than the full
numerical option I gave. I had to test the 755 where a+r (all + read)
makes perfect sense to me.
