Yes. If you don't have those, put them in now. Otherwise each program
loses the functionality or builds it's own personal version.
Don't draw me out on the functionality of cups...

I think it's either/or. I use neither, preferring Uli's script which
does the business for me. If you are printing hi-res, use gimp-print. If
you are networking/scheduling, many are satisfied with cups for these
functions.
