Hi Dan,

Tks for your advice.

The printer is working fine on FC3, the host, on the same box. It also
works on WinXP installed on a mobile HD mounted on this box.

I won't test scanner on BLFS 6.1. Another set of dependnecies are
needed by SANE as well as by the drvier of the scanner available for
test the later of which is an obsolete model.

That are most concerned to me, adding dependencies for hplip. Would
they conflict with other packages already installed on BLFS 6.1? I can
install hplip based on my previous experience. This is not the first
time for me encountering printing problem.

Sorry, no, only TWM as window manager. Neither I'll install KDE nor
GNOME.

I think I can overcome this problem with the available documents on my
possession.

Anyway I'll install ESP Ghostscript-7.07.1 later to see whether I can
solve the problem. I checked the list of supported printer on
Gimp-Print-4.2.7;
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php3
HP Deskjet 5740 is not there.

If NOT I'll skip installing HP printer and move on building BLFS 6.1

Tks.
