This doesn't use Samba, and requires no additional software. It uses the windows ass-backward "driver on the client" method, meaning that once the network printer is installed, one installs windows drivers on the windows machine. The cups server does have to be set up for raw printing. The windows setup was unintuitive, but not hair pulling. The cups setup was nearly "out of the box".
