First the setup: LFS 6.1 DWL-G650 wireless card Hyperdata laptop (not supported) MADWIFI drivers. PCMCIA-CS tools.
What I didn't know is how this all works. I looked at the ifconfig scrips and such. But it just didn't help. After a whole evening of googleing and searching archives I discovered that what I was really looking for was udev and hotplug information. I don't have the answer yet, but I know now what the right question for my problem is. How do I write a net.agent for hotplug that works with my DWL-G650 wireless card? I'm looking and I'll post back when I have an answer.
