That was great, thanks! I finally found out that of kernel 2.6.12, the alps device is detected as what it is (AlpsPS/2) and not as a normal ImPS/2 (On the newest livecd there's still a 2.6.11 kernel, so it works as ImPS/2). With the synaptics driver i'm able to scroll by moving the finger on the right side of the touchpad. I would still like to use the wheel, though, but that has to be sorted out by the programmers of the synaptics driver.
