You're positive you get audio on the audio out port with Knoppix?
Early D800s shipped with BIOS A10 which didn't have support for the
s-video or the audio out. As of A12 they've finally given us a BIOS which
puts all the wires together. That was going to be my first suggestion.
If it works with the Knoppix CD then you've got the correct BIOS upgrade.
The only thing left is to play around with the mixer.
