Thanks for putting me on the spot Richard! :-) Actually, I was already planning on first builds for tomorrow. I'm on dialup, so a 290MB source tarball is a little difficult to acquire as busy as I've been at work.
My brother-in-law is downloading it for me as I type this. :-) Anyway, I'd like to say it'll be done in the next couple of days, but I don't quite know what changes to look forward to yet.
You could always do the work yourself and submit a patch :-)
If you really can't wait, go with the binary, or you might consider checking out src rpms or ebuilds at one of the other distro's sites to see what they've done...gentoo or sourcemage (other source based distro's?) shouldn't be too terribly far from what we'll have in the end.
