I'm tempted to go with 6.9.0, since I am under the impression that it is identical to 7.0.0 except for the fact that 7.0.0 is modular (and thus, presumably more difficult to compile). I was wondering if there are any compatibility problems that I should expect with 6.9.0 or 7.0.0, and which one do people recommend in the interest of easy upgrades?
For ease of upgrade, 6.9 - same instructions as 6.8, but no gcc-4 patches. The only difference in building is that you shoud add '#define BuildXterm YES' to host.def if you want to use xterms.
I think 7.0 will ultimately be smaller, but only after everybody understands exactly what is, and isn't, needed for their own hardware and usage.
