Maybe, start up kcontrol - Sound & Multimedia, Sound System, Hardwarethen 'Select the audio device' - Autodetect usually works well, so does alsa, and esd if you have that installed.
But then again, it might be something else entirely. I've never had noatun do anything useful, so as ever YMMV.
