Is there any info in /var/log/Xorg.0.log about the crash? Which
program is it bombing on in the splash screen (nautilus, gnome-panel,
etc.)?
I looked through the whole log and cant find any errors

Its loading panels, windowmanager (metacity), nautilus
normal stuff I guess
After running 'startx &> x-output'
(get it here: http://laechele.ath.cx/siddian/blfs/x-output) and looking
at the warnings/errors I tried, just as a guess, rebuilding
gnome-applets, but no luck, no luck at all ^^.
