I don't do anything different than the book says that can affect the outcome of the packages. I install a bunch of stuff in /opt (GNOME, KDE, Thunderbird, Firefox, Qt, FOP, JUnit-4.0, JDK), but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. Here is what I recorded in /etc/lfs-release after building LFS: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: ~/Logs > cat /etc/lfs-release # File: /etc/lfs-release SVN-20060322 Built from an LFS SVN-20050219 host Customizations: Installed Shadow ---------> 4.0.15 Installed Linux kernel ---> 2.6.14.3 The following packages were installed before exiting the LFS Chapter 6 chroot: bc-1.06 gpm-1.20.1 which-2.16 pkg-config-0.20 openssl-0.9.8a wget-1.10.2 net-tools-1.60 sharutils-4.6.1 libpng-1.2.8 libjpeg-6b pcre-6.6 slang-2.0.6 zip-2.31 unzip-5.52 lynx-2.8.5 strace-4.5.14 tcp_wrappers-7.6 gmp-4.1.4 mpfr-2.2.0 check-0.9.3 expat-2.0.0 freetype-2.1.10 fontconfig-2.3.2 blfs-bootscripts-20060205 =================================================================== Here is a list of installed packages. This system is a production system on a total POS box. 500mhz P3 with 256mb RAM and a big disk. The machine is all SCSI, other than an IDE CD cutter. It runs great though, for what I use it for.
