But what for packages that comes with shared librairies ? I will then have both the old version and the new one on my system. Can this be harmfull or will that be harmless ? BTW, if you > want to follow BLFS stable, then why don't you use KDE-3.4.1? How could I say that you're wrong ? This is so obvious... But, in the last monthes, I've installed both lfs6.1 and blfs6.1 packages I needed, and installed without any error KDE3.5.0... It was not recorded in any of the blfs books I could read at this time, and it worked fine. Maybe that since then the KDE developpers have come to use something that is not compatible with blfs6.1. Never mind, Thanks for your advices. I'll read and follow the blfs-svn book to upgrade my whole machine before I try again to install KDE.
