Perhaps a bug in the stable branch or introduced in a more recent SVN?
I don't know what your current setup is.
Sorry, I forgot to mention my system specs. This has GCC 4.1 and Glibc
2.4. I just tried it on my desktop, which has GCC 4.0.2/Glibc 2.3.6/Bash
3.0/coreutils 5.93 and get the same output as you.
