Hi.

I repost this message, not because I hope I'll get more answers, but
because I want to find out what is going on by myself. But I need help :
what can I do to investigate by myself, what tools do I have to use, how
can I start something very clear to follow the process threw each steps.

Maybe it's a problem with keymap installed directly in the kernel, or in
the console file... I just want to test every possible solution.

Thanks for any help.

"Hi.

This is driving me crazy. I posted on french groups, browsed Google... now
I'm addressing a larger population, hoping to solve this.

I've upgraded my LFS to a recent version (6.1.1 SVN, in fact). I used to
work on a 6.0 (also SVN), and the keyboard worked just fine. I have the
SAME versions of Xorg (6.9.0), Emacs (21.4.1), the same configuration
files (xorg.conf, .emacs...), but the behaviour of the Alt-Gr key has
changed.

Before that, it behaved as a classic deadkey, and I could call one of my
emacs macros : "C-c AltGr ^" produced the sequence "^{}" and placed the
cursor between the two braces (one of my macros, not a miracle ;-)

Now, when I press the Alt-Gr key, Emacs blinks. I can still insert a "^"
character with AltGr-9, but Emacs blinks on the Altgr key, and the
previous sequence ends badly after the Altgr keypress, not calling the
right macro.

In fact, in my old installation, C-h k Altgr said nothing (just the right
behaviour for a dead key), now I'm answered "<key 3> is undefined".

Can you help me on this ? I saw one or two messages on the subject on
Google, but no answer. At least I'd like to know where to look first.

The horrible thing is that the key has the normal behaviour on console, so
it's clearly a raw mode problem.

Thanks for any help.

PS : one notable difference between the two installations is the kernel
version : 2.6.13 for the old one, 2.6.16.5 for the new one. And maybe some
differences in the way to build them. This remark especially for the LFS
specialists."
